Lymphatic Drainage is a light touch massage that evokes a deep state of healing by accessing the parasympathetic nervous system and the fluid systems of the body at the same time.  With very gentle strokes that move with your own body's rhythms, the therapist directs trapped fluid out of stagnant areas, improving lymphatic flow, digestion and overall well being.

The Lymphatic system is the detoxification system of the body.  Because of the chemical world we live in, our bodies are trying to process elements that are not meant to be in the body.  As a result, our lymph system becomes stagnant and we need some manual therapy to get things moving again.

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy is beneficial for supporting the body in reducing edema, calming digestive disorders such as IBS, acid reflux, bloating, autoimmune disorders of all variants, arthritis, bursitis, inflammation, allergy symptoms, sinus headaches, migraine headaches, hormone regulation and much more.

How often should I receive a lymphatic drainage massage?

It really depends on your health condition.  If you are healthy with a regulated digestive system, then we recommend monthly maintenance on the lymphatic system. With the chemicals in our world today we are a at least a little compromised.  Regular maintenance on the lymphatic system can help to keep your body in optimum health.

Pre and Post-Operative cases will want to come at least twice before surgery to prepare the lymphatic system.  The better your lymph system is flowing the easier your recovery will be.

You can begin lymphatic treatment as soon as 3 days post-surgery.  You will want at least two treatments a week, 3-4 for some elective surgeries.

How will lymphatic massage help with pre- post op surgery?

Lymphatic drainage massage can reduce pain and healing time of surgeries by managing the edema (fluid) that causes pain and inflammation.  It also aids the body in removing debris and waste material from the surgery site and helps to carry the cells that heal the body into the damaged tissue.

How to prepare for a lymphatic drainage massage:

Make sure to hydrate well for 24 hours prior to your treatment.  Wear somewhat loose-fitting clothing.  You will disrobe for the treatment like you would for a massage, but you don’t want to put on anything too constricting after your treatment.
